Your suggestions of topics that could be covered by "Nasze Akwarium" can be published in this section. If you want to submit your suggestion, click here and describe your idea. If we manage to appropriately cover the topics you have suggested (e.g. we’ll have a history of the fish farm or a description of breeding problems at our disposal) both with respect to the text and pictures, we will do our best to publish the article in our magazine.
We hereby underline that submitting an idea does not guarantee the publication.
1. Piotr Pietrzak was the first person that submitted an idea. He wrote that unique ARAPAIMAS that became subject of his interest. He has kept them in aquarium for some time already. He would be eager to broaden his knowledge about these fish and read some serious article on the issue. Congratulations on your courage! We hope this first challenge won’t remain unresponded.
2. Monika Grochala asks for an article on bettas. She wrote: "Due to the fact that many people keep these beautiful fish in aquaria (to my horror, quite often in fish bowls) I would like you to publish a text on the bettas’ natural environment. I mean plants, substrate, decoration and fish that are appropriate when one wants to imitate natural habitat for these fish. It would be best if the text could contain a lot of photos as they are scarce. I’d like to thank you for that in advance as I hope such an article will be written.”
3. Wojciech Salamon noticed another coincidence of anniversaries and asks for an article on evolution of fish and their coloration. "Due to the fact that the 100th anniversary of organised aquarium hobby in Poland celebrated in 2009 coincides with 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birthday as well as 150th anniversary of publication of his most important work “On the origin of species”, I would be glad to read some texts on the fish evolution. Texts could be devoted to the evolution of beautiful coloration that is to be admired in numerous fish species kept in aquaria.”
4. Damian Kuziora asks about methods of removing nitrates from water by means of denitrifiers or plants and algae filters that absorb big quantities of nitrogen compounds from water. He is interested in plants’ demand for nitrates.
5. Marcin from Chorzów asks for some information on freshwater murray eel, especially biotope, tank size and decoration that best suit its needs, food (if it can be fed with commercial foods) and possible tankmates. Marcin is also interested in sexual dimorphism in this fish.
6. Mr. Marek Kolasziński would eagerly learn something more on severum cichlids. Radosław Bednarczuk, who regularly writes articles for "Nasze Akwarium", informed him to what extent the species is popular. Bednarczuk used to keep this species and may keep it in future again. He assured we will write an article on this fish.
7. Mr. Robert Wagner asked for a comprehensive article on the problem of algae elimination. The article should contain description of simple rules and suggestions of conduct in such a situation. Such information is indispensible for all beginners in the hobby and finding it is problematic.
8. Mr. Adam Pluta suggests describing how to set up a planted aquarium step by step. We would be happy to read an article that would contain all essential information: equipment suggestions, decorations, choosing plants, fertilizers, lightning, CO2 systems etc. The article should contain detailed information but at the same time it should be written in such a way that would allow publishing it in one NA issue. He cares about a text describing what should he do every day in order to maintain a stable tank.
9. Mr. Tomasz Pietrasik would want to read something on reverse osmosis filters (and especially get to know their functioning patterns). He would also want to widen his knowledge on filtering media to be used in external filters in shrimp tanks. He is also interested in the issue of lightening the planted tanks.
10. Our regular reader, Mr. Piotr Pietrzak, proposed another topic suggestion of an article to be published in "Nasze Akwarium": Scleropages formosus – Asian arowana. The species is rarely kept in private aquaria and that is probably due to its bad accessibility and high price. It is available in many colour variants and may appear to be interesting for many aquarium hobbyists.

11. Mr Jerzy Kaleniecki asks a question: "I have some bronze corydoras. The problem is that I don’t know what to do when fry hatches and dies after just one day. What am I doing wrong? I have prepared a separate place for young fish in my tank – and for nothing. Maybe I should do it some other way?"
There’s not enough much data to answer the question. Andrzej Sieniawski claims (he wrote on corys in NA45 and NA47) that you have chosen the pair correctly as the eggs get fertilized and the fry hatches. Most probably the improper water parameters are the problem here. Maybe the pH and hardness are too high? Sławomir Siudakiewicz (he wrote on corys in NA80) has a deep knowledge of the issue and is eager to answer your question “on line” at once in order to disperse all your doubts. We’ll do our best to devote the “What, how, why?” section to corys in one of the next NA issues.
