Krakowskie Stowarzyszenie Akwarystów (aquarium association of the city of Kraków) has a pleasure to invite you to the third Aquarium Hobby Weekend in Kraków. Due to the fact that promoting aquarium hobby and aquarium knowledge is one of our goals, we have decided to revive the tradition of holding meetings of this kind.This year’s meeting will be yet more fascinating than the previous ones. We prepared many attractions for the visitors and we believe everyone will be able to find something of his or her interest. We tried to make the subject of the meeting as broad as possible in order to reach the biggest possible number of potential visitors. We will hold lectures and practical classes as well as play movies – all of them will concern both aquarium and terrarium hobby. We believe it to be a wonderful autumn weekend option especially that you can’t fins any the discussed issues in books or Internet. We are convinced that thanks to the knowledge and experience of our lecturers as well as the event’s form, which is based on involving the visitors in an active participation, the whole occasion will become an outstanding event.

Moss 10:00 – Domestic aquatic moss species – lecture by Krzysztof Twardoń (GSA)Moss has already become a frequent plant in our tanks. Nevertheless, it’s often exotic species that we keep. Little of us remember of the beautiful domestic species. In his lecture, Krzysztof Twardoń will present his experience as well as his own and his colleagues’ observations on the issue.
Gobies 11:15 – Egyptian gobies – film by Piotr Kierzkowski (WTA)The film was shot in September 2009, during the project focusing on habitats of small gobies in the Red Sea, done in Egypt by Wrocławski Towarzystwo Akwarystyczne (aquarium association of the city of Wrocław) (www.wta.org.pl). Describing and mapping the micro habitats populated by small and exceptionally attractive reef gobies was the project’s aim. Both research method and beauty of the reef environment and organisms that inhabit it will be presented. The film is interesting for all aquarium hobbyists involved in the issue of biotopes and trial of mimicking the fishes’ natural habitats in the aquaria. Turtle 12:30 – Keeping and breeding most popular semi-aquatic turtles – lecture by Wojciech Urynowicz (EMYS)Some of the aquarium hobbyists may be surprised by the fact that such an issue should be discussed, as at the first glance it seems to be a strictly terrarium issue. At the second glance it appears the difference between taking care of aquarium with fish and keeping semi-aquatic turtles is not a particularly big one. In order to become convinced of that feel free to visit the lecture. The most popular species, setting an aqua-terrarium and garden pond, proper diet and feeding, breeding turtles as well as many other interesting things concerning these reptiles will be a subject of the lecture.

Feel invited to participate in photo workshop focusing on the issue of aquarium hobby photography. Contrary to popular opinion, it’s not an easy task at all. Insufficient lighting, glass that reflects light, light refraction in water and other similar problems are bread-an-butter issue for people that take pictures of aquaria and their inhabitants. As soon as you manage to take a photo, it appears the picture needs to be edited. The workshop will be held by Jarosław Harmata and you can see his photos, among others, at: www.moodoke.pl.
Everyone willing to participate in the workshop is invited to come with their cameras. It will be an opportunity to have a go at aquarium photography and listen to the professional’s remarks that may be helpful in polishing technical photography skills.
All lectures and workshops will be held in Dom Kultury "Podgórze" at 18/20 Krasickiego Street in Kraków.
We hope that during this weekend everyone will find something interesting.
Both lectures and workshops are open for everyone and free of charge.
