Yungas - Heiko Bleher
It is always a challenge for Heiko Bleher to follow in the footsteps of some early explorers and trace what they have found in remote areas, fishes which have never been seen a life and/or never been photographed in vivo. Often we do not know their colours, as the colour description was made from preserved specimens. So he goes out and searches for those fishes only known from scientists and/or scientific publications, to get a picture of what we have on our planet and hopefully bring some back alive to study them. Their behaviour, reproduction and if possible introduce them to the most beautiful hobby in the world(which he did already with some 4000 plus species)

Geophagus taeniopareius - Radosław Bednarczuk
People that have never kept any fish from Geophagus genus most probably will regard the majority of geophagine cichlids as similar to each other with regard to their behaviour and appearance. However, Geophagus enthusiasts, and I am one of them, will notice something interesting and unusual in each of the species. This article is devoted to G. taeniopareius – the species that is slightly different from its cousins with regard to its coloration and shape.

Krutynia - Robert Dreszer
We’ve been in Amazon. Well, that’s not the whole truth. Nevertheless, that’s the name given by many people to the queen of the rivers of the Masurian Lakeland – Krutynia... As a matter of fact, the river’s water is crystal clear and you can see the bottom in its every part. Numerous aquatic plants grow in this river. I managed to find: Elodea canadensis (Canadian waterweed), Ceratophyllum demersum (hornwort), Hippuris vulgaris (common marestail), beautiful specimen of Potamogeton crispus (curly pondweed), Potamogeton natans (broadleaf pondweed), Myriophyllum spicatum (Eurasian watermilfoil), Stratiotes aloides (water soldier), Hydrocharis morsus-ranae (common frogbit), Nymphaea alba (white water-lily), Nuphar luteum (yellow water-lily) and many others. All plants were healthy, had vivid colours and were not covered by algae. Moreover, fish swam among all these beautiful plants.

Petrochromis orthognathus - Bernard Chazan
Petrochromis orthognathus Ikola has not been a popular fish among aquarium hobbyists, including Tanganyika fanciers. (...) Undoubtedly it belongs to the most beautiful herbivorous cichlids. (...) Unquestionably, it’s a fish for more experienced aquarium hobbyists that are familiar with requirements of Lake Tanganyika inhabitants and are able to maintain proper conditions in their aquarium.;

Tricladida - Andrzej Sieniawski
Flatworms belonging to the Tricladida family (phylum: Platyhelminthes, class: Turbellaria) are characterized by a triply-branched intestine. (...) Tricladida are found among others in fresh waters and usually avoid polluted basins. There are 7 types of Tricladida found in Poland and these cover 13 species. (...) Dendrocoelum lacteum is the most commonly found Tricladida in aquaria. If provided good conditions it reaches the length of 26 mm and the width of 6 mm. (...) It was unquestionably proved that the presence of Tricladida in aquarium is harmful. Therefore it’s not surprising that aquarium hobbyists aim at eliminating them. Is there any radical way to get rid of these undesired organisms?

Moulting - Witold Borkowski
(...) In order to understand any disturbances in moulting in snakes and geckos, we have to consider the whole process. (...) Completeness or partial shedding of a worn skin is one of the problems terrarium hobbyists have to face. The frequency of moulting in a pet is another issue. (...) What should you do when you notice there’s something wrong with moulting process?

Skink - Zbigniew Strzelecki
Ocellated skink is a species belonging to the Lacertilia (formerly Sauria) suborder, family Scincidae. (...) Keeping ocellated skink is a pleasant and rewarding hobby and the lizard itself is a friendly creature. (...) The species can be easily recommended for beginners in the terrarium hobby that would be eager to buy a bit more demanding representative of the group later on.

Swordtail coloration - Marek Łabaj
When I observe an aquarium enclosing a multi-coloured realm of marvellously coloured fish, I can hardly ever resist wondering: what earthly reason stands behind their wonderful coloration? What was the Nature’s purpose in giving them these spectacular colours?

Everglass pygmy sunfish - Marcin Szmel
Everglass pygmy sunfish is a fish worth noticing and that is due to several reasons. It represents North American continent and ichthyofauna from this part of the world is hardly accessible in our pet shops and tanks. They are one of the few species that can be kept in cool water of room temperature

Mogurnda - Hubert Zientek
(...) Fish from Eleotridae family, known also as sleepers, have separated pelvic fins. Mogurnda mogurnda mogurnda and Tateurndina ocellicauda are the most popular representatives of this family in aquaria. In this article I will discuss how to keep and breed this species in an amateur tank.
