Geophagus sp. Rio Branco – care and breeding - Radosław Bednarczuk;
As I have already written once, the name Geophagus (Greek geos = Earth; gr. phagein = to eat) given to the genus is associated with a characteristic feeding behaviour in species belonging to the genus. They take substrate material into their mouths and sift out inedible bits, while consuming the rest. (...) The largest species such as Geophagus altifrons (Heckel, 1840), reach 30 cm length. The smallest ones are only dozen centimetres long. The most popular species are: Geophagus altifrons, G. proximus, G. abalios, G. surinamensis, G. „Tapajos”, G. „Pindaré”. Moreover, the dealers offer many local variations and species that were not scientifically described and were named after the place in which they were caught.

Decorative plant aquaria. Part VII. Is the way to building underwater garden really that difficult? - Arkadiusz Siurda;
Two more weeks have passed since the aquarium was built. Our tank visibly changes and gains naturalness every day.

Labidochromis sp. „Mbamba” – striped trouble-maker
- Wojciech Sierakowski;
Despite the tanks with African fish from Lake Malawi become more and more popular, they are usually rarely seen in homes of people outside the circle of aquarium enthusiasts. (...) Labidochromis sp. „Mbamba” was not scientifically described yet. However that doesn’t hamper its growing popularity among Polish aquarium hobbyists. It’s not one of the easiest available species but it’s possible to buy the fish – for example in an on-line aquarium shops or from the amateur aquarium hobbyists through the medium of Internet as well. It is offered (both in Internet and by other dealers) as Labidochromis Mbamba Bay, Labidochromis „Red Top Mbamba Bay”, Labidochromis „Yellow Top Mbamba Bay”, Labidochromis sp. „Mbamba Yellow Top” and Labidochromis luhuchi. However, it appears the name quoted in the title of my article is predominant in Poland. In Lake Malawi Labidochromis sp. „Mbamba” is found in waters of Mbamba Bay and along the coast to the south of the city with the same name. The species can be usually found in intermediate zone where water is not deeper than 15 m. it usually lives in large caves.

The issue of flying fish (not only in the aquarium)
- Zbigniew Strzelecki;
Flight is usually associated with the physical process by which an object moves through the air over the land (or water surface) in a give direction.

How to breed and take care of rosy barbs (Puntius conchonius) - dr Hubert Zientek;

Poison dart-frogs and their terrarium in practice - Arkadiusz Zalech;
The article is an attempt at describing my hitherto (year’s) experience in keeping the South-American frogs from Dendrobatidae family.

Fish etology in the eyes of an aquarium hobbyist. Part Cz. IV. Mating dance
- Marcin Graczyk;
Analogies in different types of breeding behaviour. Mating dance is usually associated with behaviour observed before laying eggs and parental care in birds.

Wetland at home. Building and equipping the paludarium
- dr inż. Aleksandra Kwaśniak;
Strategic decisions. When planning to build a paludarium you should follow similar routine as when building an aquarium. First you have to choose a location and decide on the tank’s size. In this phase you have to think on animals that are supposed to live in it as well.

An example of model mimicry in bonefish - Zbigniew Strzelecki;
A phenomenon of evolving characteristics (shape, coloration, body pattern) was observed in nature in some species – the traits make an animal look similar to its surroundings. (...) Mimicry is most often observed in insects – e.g. a dronefly (Eristalis genus) resembles a bee, a hoverfly (Syrphus sp.) resembles a wasp and hornet moth (Aegeria apiformis) resembles a hornet. The examples of mimicry in insects are much more numerous and they can both concern adult forms as well as larvae (especially caterpillars). The best known example of mimicking in snakes is the appearance of the harmless milk snake (Lampropeltis triangulum) resembling the deadly coral snake (Micrurus fulvius). Although the pattern is not identical, the combination of the colours (black, yellow and red) itself results in a desired effect.
