Behaviour in angelfish - Zbigniew Strzelecki;
Probably every aquarium hobbyist knows angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare), a fish from Pterophyllum genus. (...) Nevertheless, relatively seldom (if you don’t count these rare exceptions) you can find descriptions of breeding behaviour and courtship, fights and means of establishing the hierarchy in these fish.

Decorative planted aquaria. Part III. Fist things first – the substrate - Arkadiusz Siurda;
Working on the biological-chemical aspect of the planted aquarium that you plan to set will be the next step. (...) Setting a professional planted aquarium is the most important and crucial task in the whole process of its biological functioning. (...) The substrate in the planted aquarium, unlike in the other types of aquaria, is a key factor in its biological stability.

Aquarium titbits - Michał Pręgowski;
Named after a vacuum cleaner – Ichthyologists have discovered a new species of ray in the waters surrounding Republic of South Africa. (...) They gave their discovery the name... Electrolux addisoni.; Swims and “walks” - Mudskipper (Periophthalmus barbarus) is a “freak of nature” – it lives in mangrove swamps in Asia and spends more time on land than in water.; Dextrous in the dark – the elephantnose fish (Gnathonemus petersii) will never cease to astonish the researchers.; First “devil’ born in captivity - Churaumi Oceanarium in Okinawa in Japan is famous all over the world for its impressive giant mantas that are very hard to keep in captivity. These mantas (Manta birostris) are sometimes called „devil mantas”.

A refuge of harmony. How to set up an aquarium for labyrinth fish?
- Michał Pręgowski;
(...) A true harmony can be achieved by means of a well planned biotope tank – for example the one housing labyrinth fish (anabantoids). The popular labyrinth fish are regarded to be relatively docile and sedate fish that like stagnant or slow-flowing water. (...) It’s enough to remind you that betta (Betta splendens) is one of the species that belongs to the anabantoid group.

Macrobrachium assamense – a shrimp worth attention. Part II - Jacqueline Sawicka, Paweł Szewczak;
Occasionally it happens that red claw shrimps hunt. However, they eat food given by an aquarium hobbyist, dead animals and detritus most eagerly. (...) In some circumstances the red claw shrimp may act as a cleaning shrimp in an aquarium.

How to build a mega-tank? Part II. Sealing the aquarium - Andrzej Sieniawski;
We have decided to use a 12 mm thick glass when building the tank. Thanks to using such a thick glass we could avoid dividing the bottom to two parts – it is usually done this way if a thinner glass is used in building such a large tank. (...) In practice, the biological filtration on one hand should influence water quality improvement, while on the other hand it should serve as an additional security measure... (...) We have used CO2 membrane reactor and UV lamps to condition the water.

Maylandia estherae – strong and beautiful mbuna for beginners - Wojciech Sierakowski i Mariusz Suwalski;
The last species that I would like to describe is Maylandia estherae – a mbuna for beginners. (...) It may also be described (both in books and Internet) as well as sold under one of the following names: Maylandia estherae, Metriaclima estherae, Pseudotropheus estherae and Pseudotropheus Red Zebra.

Grass snakes - dr Adam Adamski;
In Poland snake fanciers don’t have too many opportunities to admire animals of their interest in nature. Only four snake species live in Poland. Grass snake (Natrix natrix, L, 1758) that belongs to the Colubridae family is one of them.

Intelligent tortoise... Łukasz Kiepas;
Tortoises are one of the “oldest” animals that now live on Earth. However, despite that fact we still don’t know too much about them. (...) It is widely believed that in their evolution most of the tortoises have developed auto therapy mechanism.

Zebra mussel (Dreissena polymorpha) - Magdalena Ryba;
Zebra mussel is a mollusc classified in the group of eulamellibranchs. (...) Two siphons are a characteristic trait for mussels – a bigger, inhaling one and the smaller, exhaling one. Mussel larvae are able to swim and that favours fast spreading of the molluscs in the tank.

II Letnia Wystawa Akwarystyczna AQUAEL (2nd summer aquarium hobby exhibition) - Warszawa ZOOMARKET 2007 - dr inż. Paweł Zarzyński;
Aquarium exhibition organised by AQUAEL – European leader in production of accessories for aquarium fish is slowly beginning to be regarded as a part of the ZOOMARKET fairs tradition.

Travelling aquarium hobbyist – aquaria in Münster - Wojciech Tomalik;

Wrocław - ZOO BOTANICA 2007
dr Aleksandra Kwaśniak;
V Wystawa Akwarystyczna WTA (September, 14th – 16th, 2007) – facts and remarks.

Melaochromis cyaneorhabdos - Grzegorz Piór;
(...) Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos is a species endemic to Lake Malawi, or to be more precise, to the rocky area between Mbako Point and Membe Point, in the vicinity of Likoma Island... (...)  In Poland this mbuna cichlid is usually sold under the name “maingano” or – much less often – “blue johannii”.

Breeding characids - dr Hubert Zientek;
Many so-called non-seasonal species belong to the fish that lay eggs on plant leaves or roots (e.g. killifish). (...) These species lay eggs among the plants. They spawn in the vicinity of the substrate and vegetation.

Group H - Red Discus with no patterns - Andrzej Sieniawski;
(...) Discus fanciers had to wait for a very long time before the first discus fish with almost solid red coloration of the body was produced. Stabilising the red colour in the already established colour variations of Red Turquoise Discus was the way to this breeding success.
